I am reading Indians on Vacation by Thomas King right now and loving it. First of all, there’s King’s humour that shines through. However he also deals with big issues like residential schools and refugees and mental health issues. I love how Bird (the male main character) visualizes his demons which his wife insisted on naming (the one with the catastropic outlook on everything is called Kitty). This is my year for reading King it seems as this is the fourth book by him to come through my hands and I think this is one of his best.
