Interview / Entrevue

I hid many books from my parents! Most of them were LGBT-related, because I was closeted and my parents, like many people raising children in the 90s, didn’t have the resources they needed to be supportive. One example I remember particularly is the classic gay coming-of-age novel Blackbird by Larry Duplechan – I found it randomly in my local library, and it meant so much to me not only because it was gay, but because the author and main character were Black (I am not Black, I’m Chinese, but there were almost no queer books that featured non-white characters available to me, so it was still extremely meaningful).

“Oh,” the girl said, shaking her head. “Don’t be so simple. People adore monsters. They fill their songs and stories with them. They define themselves in relation to them. You know what a monster is, young shade? Power.  Power and choice. Monsters make choices. Monsters shape the world.”― Jim Butcher, Ghost Story

Cluttered, but I long to be clean!!!! I’m still fighting my cluttered nature, tooth and nail.

That I haven’t been kind enough. I have great anxiety about being “bad,” and longing to be good – but I also kind of enjoy being bad. Need to take that to the therapist!

To overthrow the cult of capitalism and live in a free world! Also to act in a musical.
