Anne Mahon is interested in people, their stories and making meaningful connections. She is the 14th chancellor of the University of Manitoba, a committed life-long volunteer, and an oral history author.
Anne has written three books which tell the stories of Winnipeg's marginalized communities: Overcome: Stories of Women Who Grew Up in the Child Welfare System (2022), Redemption: Stories of Hope, Resilience and Life After Gangs (2017), and The Lucky Ones: African Refugees Stories of Extraordinary Courage (2013). These books are also philanthropic initiatives with all author proceeds donated to a charity that supports the community each book represents.
The Lucky Ones won the On The Same Page Book Award from the Winnipeg Library. Anne was also nominated for the John Hirsch Award for Most Promising Manitoba Writer in 2018.
